Information & Communication Technology 0417
About Course
The Cambridge IGCSE™ Information and Communication Technology (0417) qualification is designed for learners typically aged 14–16 who want to gain confidence and competence in using ICT tools and systems. It supports both theoretical understanding and practical application of digital technologies, preparing students to use ICT effectively in academic and real-world contexts.
Learners study how computer systems work, including hardware and software components, as well as how ICT tools are used to collect, process and present information. The course also covers digital safety, networks, and the effects of using ICT in wider society.Â
Learning begins with core system concepts and progresses through the use of ICT applications such as document production, data handling, spreadsheets and website authoring. This blend of knowledge and practical work helps learners develop both understanding and real world skills.Â
This qualification prepares learners for future study at higher levels (such as Cambridge International AS & A Level Information Technology) and helps build ICT skills useful across many subject areas and future career pathways.Â
