About Course

The Cambridge IGCSE™ Information and Communication Technology (0417) is an internationally recognised qualification designed primarily for learners aged 14–16 years, although it is suitable for students of other ages. No previous study of ICT is required, making it accessible to beginners with a broad general education. The course typically takes one academic year to complete and is designed for approximately 130 guided learning hours. Assessment consists of three examination papers, all completed within a single examination series, evaluating both theoretical understanding and practical ICT skills.

Throughout this course, you will develop a broad understanding of modern information and communication technologies and their applications in everyday life, education and business. You will explore computer systems, networking, cybersecurity, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, website authoring and systems development while learning how technology supports communication, problem-solving and decision-making. Alongside practical digital skills, you will strengthen analytical thinking, organisation and responsible use of technology. These capabilities provide an excellent foundation for further study in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Media, Business, Engineering and many other technology-related university pathways and professional careers.

At Polymath Institute, your study partner, you will learn through a structured digital learning platform that closely follows the Cambridge syllabus. Each topic is presented through engaging syllabus-aligned video lessons, guided practice, interactive exercises, quizzes and regular assessments that help reinforce understanding. You will develop examination confidence through extensive past paper practice, mock examinations, focused revision programmes and continuous progress tracking. With 24/7 tutoring support, you can learn at your own pace, revisit challenging topics whenever needed, strengthen weaker areas and monitor your readiness for the examination while building valuable digital skills that support future university studies and career aspirations.
