Travel & Tourism 0471
About Course
The Cambridge IGCSE Travel & Tourism syllabus (0471) is designed for learners typically aged 14–16 who want to build knowledge and understanding about the global travel and tourism industry. It introduces key principles and concepts of travel and tourism, while developing skills in research, analysis, communication and sustainable thinking.Â
Learners explore the structure of the travel and tourism industry, from customer service to the management and marketing of destinations, and examine both global and local contexts. The syllabus places emphasis on understanding real-world impacts economic, environmental and social and encourages learners to consider the sustainability and resilience of tourism.Â
Teaching progresses logically from basic definitions and key concepts to more applied topics such as managing tourism organisations and destination marketing. Throughout, learners are encouraged to think critically, reflect on cases and develop clear communication skills.Â
The qualification prepares learners for further study including Cambridge International AS & A Level Travel & Tourism or for direct employment in customer-facing and tourism-related roles.
