About Course

Cambridge IGCSE™ Travel & Tourism (0471) is an internationally recognised qualification designed mainly for learners aged 14–16, although students of other ages may also take it. No previous study of travel and tourism is required. The course is based on approximately 130 guided learning hours, usually completed over one to two academic years. Assessment consists of two externally assessed written papers, normally taken in one examination series. The qualification develops knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and prepares learners for further study or employment.

You will study how travel and tourism operates locally, nationally and globally, including tourism demand, destinations, organisations, transport, customer service, sustainability and destination marketing. You will learn to apply concepts to real destinations and organisations, analyse tourism impacts, evaluate management decisions and recommend suitable solutions. These skills support progression to Cambridge International AS & A Level Travel & Tourism and related university pathways such as tourism management, hospitality, business, marketing and events. The course also provides a strong foundation for careers in airlines, accommodation, attractions, tour operations, destination management and customer service.

At Polymath Institute, you learn through a structured digital platform with syllabus-aligned lessons, guided practice, topic exercises, quizzes and regular assessments. Past papers, mock examinations and focused revision help you understand question requirements and strengthen examination technique. Progress tracking shows your development and highlights areas requiring further attention, while 24/7 tutoring support provides help throughout your studies. You can learn at your own pace, revisit lessons and practise weaker topics until your understanding improves. As your study partner, Polymath Institute helps you measure examination readiness, prepare confidently for higher grades and connect your learning with future university courses, professional skills and career opportunities.
