About Course

The Cambridge IGCSE Statistics (0479) course is an internationally recognised qualification designed for learners typically aged 14–16 years. It is suitable for students who have previously studied a mathematics curriculum such as Cambridge Lower Secondary or an equivalent programme, although no prior study of statistics is expected. The course is generally completed over one academic year (approximately 130 guided learning hours) and is assessed through two externally assessed written examination papers, normally taken in a single examination series. It develops a strong foundation in statistical thinking, probability and data analysis.

Throughout this course, you will learn how to collect, organise, analyse and interpret data using a wide range of statistical techniques. You will explore topics such as data representation, probability, frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and dispersion, index numbers, bivariate distributions and time series. You will develop practical analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills that can be applied to real-world situations across business, economics, science, healthcare, technology and social research. The qualification also provides excellent preparation for Cambridge International AS & A Level subjects containing statistical elements and for university pathways in mathematics, economics, data science, engineering, business and related disciplines.

At Polymath Institute, your study partner, you will learn through a structured digital learning platform featuring syllabus-aligned video lessons, guided practice, topic-based exercises, quizzes, assessments, past paper practice, mock examinations and focused revision sessions. Your progress is continuously tracked, allowing you to identify strengths and improve weaker areas while building confidence for the final examinations. Flexible learning enables you to study at your own pace, revisit challenging topics whenever needed and strengthen your examination techniques. With 24/7 tutoring support, you will receive ongoing academic guidance that helps you prepare for higher grades while developing valuable analytical and quantitative skills for university study and future careers.
