About Course

The Cambridge International AS & A Level Biology (9700) qualification is an internationally recognised programme designed for learners typically aged 16 to 19 years. It provides a rigorous foundation in biological sciences and is widely accepted by universities and employers worldwide. The course is suitable for students who have a solid background in biology at secondary level and is normally completed over one to two years, depending on whether you are studying AS Level or the full A Level. The full A Level is assessed through five examination papers, while AS Level consists of three examination papers, completed in a single examination series.

Throughout this course, you will explore the fundamental principles of biology, from cellular structure and molecular biology to genetics, physiology, ecology and modern biological technologies. You will develop practical laboratory skills, scientific investigation techniques, data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities that are essential in scientific study. The knowledge and skills gained provide excellent preparation for higher education in biology, medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, biotechnology, pharmacy, environmental science and many other life science disciplines, while also supporting careers in healthcare, research, education and related industries.

At Polymath Institute, your study partner, learning is delivered through a structured digital platform designed around the official Cambridge syllabus. You will progress through carefully organised lessons supported by guided practice, topic exercises, quizzes, assessments, past paper practice, mock examinations and focused revision activities. Regular progress tracking helps you identify strengths and improve weaker areas while studying at your own pace. With 24/7 tutoring support, you can receive guidance whenever you need it, revisit lessons as often as required, build confidence for examinations and strengthen the knowledge and practical skills needed for higher grades, university studies and future scientific careers.
