About Course

Cambridge International AS & A Level Geography (9696) is an internationally recognised qualification designed primarily for learners aged 16–19 who wish to develop advanced geographical knowledge and analytical skills. Students normally begin the course after completing Cambridge IGCSE™, O Level or an equivalent qualification, although equivalent prior learning is also suitable. The qualification is typically completed over 18–24 months and may be taken as a standalone AS Level or as a full A Level. AS Level is assessed through two examination papers, while the full A Level includes four examination papers, normally completed within one examination series or through a staged assessment route.

You will investigate advanced physical and human geography by exploring river systems, atmospheric processes, climate change, plate tectonics, population dynamics, migration, water resources, urban development and a selection of global environments and contemporary global themes. Throughout the course, you will interpret geographical data, evaluate evidence, construct well-reasoned arguments and analyse complex environmental and human interactions across multiple scales. These advanced skills prepare you for university programmes in geography, environmental science, urban and regional planning, sustainability, international development, geology, environmental engineering and related disciplines, while supporting careers in environmental management, research, policy, conservation and resource planning.

At Polymath Institute, you learn through a structured digital platform featuring syllabus-aligned lessons, guided practice, topic exercises, quizzes and continuous assessments. Comprehensive revision resources, past papers, mock examinations and progress tracking help you monitor your understanding and strengthen examination technique throughout your studies.
