Arabic 0544
About Course
The Cambridge IGCSE™ Arabic (0544) course is designed for learners aged 14–16 who are developing competence in Modern Standard Arabic. It supports learners who already have some foundation in the language and wish to strengthen their ability to understand and use Arabic accurately and confidently in everyday and educational contexts.
Throughout the course, learners develop skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing Arabic. Learning progresses from understanding and responding to familiar situations to handling more varied topics and producing longer, more structured spoken and written responses. The course places emphasis on clear communication, comprehension of meaning and appropriate use of language.
The syllabus encourages learners to engage with Arabic as a living international language while building accuracy in grammar and vocabulary. It provides a strong academic foundation for further study of Arabic, including progression to Cambridge International AS & A Level Arabic.
Assessment is externally set and marked by Cambridge. The qualification supports exam readiness through structured skills development and internationally recognised assessment standards.
