About Course

Cambridge IGCSE™ Computer Science (0478) is an internationally recognised qualification designed mainly for learners aged 14–16, although students of other ages may take it. The syllabus does not specify a formal previous-knowledge requirement. Polymath Institute recommends completing the course over approximately 12–18 months. Assessment consists of two written examination papers, normally taken within one examination series. The qualification develops computational thinking, programming ability, technical understanding and systematic approaches to solving computer-based problems.

You will study how data is represented and transmitted, how computer hardware and software operate, and how networks, internet technologies and cybersecurity support modern digital systems. You will also design algorithms, develop programs, work with databases and apply Boolean logic. Practical programming helps you create, test, debug and evaluate computer-based solutions to real problems. The course provides a strong foundation for advanced study in Computer Science, software engineering, information technology, cybersecurity and data-related fields, while supporting future opportunities in programming, systems development, networking and other technology careers.

At Polymath Institute, you will learn through a structured digital platform containing syllabus-aligned lessons, guided programming practice, topic exercises, quizzes and regular assessments. Past papers, mock examinations and focused revision activities will strengthen your examination technique, while progress tracking will show your strengths, weaker areas and current level of exam readiness. You can study at your own pace, revisit difficult lessons and receive 24/7 tutoring support whenever additional guidance is needed. As your study partner, Polymath Institute helps you connect theory with practical programming, improve problem-solving skills, prepare effectively for higher grades and understand how your learning supports university pathways and future technology careers.
