About Course

Cambridge International AS & A Level Computer Science (9618) is an internationally recognised qualification that prepares learners, typically aged 16–19, for university study and careers in computing and digital technologies. It may be taken as a standalone AS Level or as the full A Level qualification. The syllabus assumes learners have an appropriate foundation in computing and programming. Polymath Institute recommends completing the full A Level over 18–24 months. Assessment consists of four examination components for the full A Level, normally completed across one examination series or through the staged AS and A Level route.

You will develop advanced computational thinking and programming skills while exploring computer architecture, communication technologies, operating systems, cybersecurity, databases, software engineering and artificial intelligence. As you progress, you will work with algorithms, data structures, programming paradigms, networking protocols, encryption and practical software development. The course strengthens analytical reasoning, independent problem-solving and technical programming abilities that support progression to university programmes in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science and related STEM disciplines, while preparing you for a wide range of technology-focused careers.

At Polymath Institute, you will study through a structured digital learning platform designed specifically around the official syllabus. Syllabus-aligned lessons are supported with guided programming practice, coding exercises, topic quizzes, assessments, past paper practice and practical programming activities. Mock examinations, focused revision and continuous progress tracking help you understand your examination readiness while identifying areas for improvement. You can learn at your own pace, revisit challenging topics whenever needed and benefit from 24/7 tutoring support throughout your studies. As your study partner, Polymath Institute helps you build confidence, strengthen programming expertise, prepare for higher grades and connect your learning with university study and professional careers in computing and technology.
