About Course

Cambridge IGCSE™ English (as an Additional Language) (0472) is an internationally recognised qualification designed mainly for learners aged 14–16, although students of other ages may also take it. The syllabus does not prescribe specific prior learning. A typical programme may be completed over one to two academic years and is assessed through four components: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing, normally taken within one examination series. Its purpose is to develop effective everyday English communication and support progression to further study or employment.

You will develop your ability to understand spoken and written English and communicate confidently in familiar situations. Your studies will explore everyday life, personal and social experiences, the surrounding world, education, employment and international contexts. You will strengthen vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading comprehension, listening accuracy, conversational interaction and practical writing. These abilities support real-life communication, study in English-medium environments and progression to a wide range of university pathways. Strong English skills are also valuable in careers including business, tourism, customer service, media, education and international organisations.

At Polymath Institute, your study partner, you will learn through a structured digital platform offering syllabus-aligned lessons, guided practice, topic exercises, quizzes and regular assessments. Past-paper activities, mock examinations and focused revision will help you understand Cambridge question formats and improve examination technique. Progress tracking will show your strengths, weaker areas and level of examination readiness, while 24/7 tutoring support provides help whenever you need it. You can learn at your own pace, revisit challenging lessons and practise each language skill repeatedly. This approach helps you prepare for higher grades while connecting your English development with future university study, professional communication and career opportunities.
