Physics 9702
About Course
The Cambridge International AS & A Level Physics (9702) qualification is an internationally recognised advanced secondary programme designed for learners typically aged 16–19 years. It provides rigorous preparation for university study through a balanced emphasis on theoretical understanding, practical investigation, and analytical thinking. Previous study of Physics at Cambridge IGCSE™, O Level, or an equivalent qualification is assumed. The course is typically completed over two years and may be taken as AS Level or the full A Level, with assessment through five examination papers/components depending on the chosen route, normally completed in one examination series or in a staged assessment over two years.
During this course, you will develop an advanced understanding of mechanics, waves, electricity, particle physics, quantum physics, thermodynamics, gravitational and electric fields, oscillations, magnetic fields, medical physics, astronomy, and cosmology. You will strengthen your mathematical reasoning, practical laboratory techniques, scientific communication, and critical problem-solving skills while applying physical principles to unfamiliar situations. These capabilities provide an excellent foundation for university degrees in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Data Science, Astronomy, and other STEM disciplines, while also supporting careers in research, technology, healthcare, and engineering.
At Polymath Institute, your study partner, you will learn through a structured digital platform featuring syllabus-aligned video lessons, guided practice, topic exercises, quizzes, continuous assessments, practical skill development, past paper practice, mock examinations, focused revision, and progress tracking. With 24/7 tutoring support, you can study at your own pace, revisit complex topics whenever required, identify and improve weaker areas, and monitor your examination readiness throughout the course. This flexible learning environment helps you prepare confidently for higher grades while connecting advanced physics concepts with university studies, scientific research, and professional careers.
