Psychology 9990
About Course
Cambridge International AS & A Level Psychology introduces learners to psychology as a scientific discipline concerned with understanding human behaviour and mental processes. The course is designed for students who are interested in how psychological knowledge is developed through research and how it can be applied to real-life situations.
Learners study a range of psychological approaches, examining how biological, cognitive, learning and social factors influence behaviour. Central to the course is the use of core studies, which enable learners to understand how psychologists investigate behaviour, analyse evidence and draw conclusions while considering ethical and methodological issues.
Learning progresses from a broad foundation at AS Level to more specialised study at A Level. At AS Level, learners focus on key psychological approaches and research methods. At A Level, learners build on this foundation by studying applied psychology options, allowing deeper exploration of psychology in real-world contexts.
The syllabus develops skills in analysis, evaluation, research design and data interpretation. These skills support academic progression and provide a strong foundation for further study in psychology and related disciplines, while also encouraging critical and reflective thinking.
