Understanding the whole syllabus

Business decisions connect people, customers, operations and money. A change in one area affects the others, so the syllabus develops both subject knowledge and decision-making in realistic contexts.

Assessment objectives

Objective Meaning Approximate qualification weighting
AO1 Knowledge and understanding Use accurate concepts and business terminology. 35%
AO2 Application Connect the answer to the particular business and its circumstances. 30%
AO3 Analysis Interpret evidence and explain causes, consequences and relationships. 22%
AO4 Evaluation Reach a supported decision or recommendation. 13%

These abilities work together. Application means more than naming the business: its circumstances should shape the reasoning. Analysis explains a chain of effects, while evaluation weighs alternatives and reaches a justified conclusion.

Summary: follow the 2027–2029 syllabus, cover every required area, connect topics rather than studying them in isolation, and develop assessed skills alongside knowledge.
